Vaccines for Kittens & Cats

Early vaccination is crucial for preventing serious diseases and ensuring a long and healthy life.

Vaccinations safeguard your pet against preventable diseases, which could otherwise be harmful to their health. We develop a vaccination plan for each pet that carries them through their various life stages. We recommend a combination of core (necessary) and non-core (optional) vaccines based on their age, lifestyle and susceptibility to some diseases.

Why does my kitten need vaccines at such an early age?

Vaccinations are a vital part of your kitten’s preventative healthcare. Though your kitten is born with some immunity from the antibodies they receive from their mother, this protection doesn’t last long. Starting at 8-weeks old, we recommend vaccinating your pet. They’ll receive subsequent vaccines or boosters throughout their lives that help maintain their immunity against diseases they’ve been vaccinated against.

How do you develop my pet’s vaccination plan?

Your pet’s vaccination plan is tailored specially for them and considers their exposure risk to certain diseases. If your pet doesn’t have a vaccination plan, please contact us at 519-661-0496. We recommend the following core vaccines:

  • Rabies
  • Feline panleukopenia
  • Feline leukemia
  • Herpesvirus
  • Calicivirus

Depending on your pet’s needs, we recommend the following non-core vaccines:

  • Chlamydia
  • Bordetella
